Ehiem 1250 - External?

Does anyone run a 1250 external? I really want to but the fittings are so odd. Any help would be great!

I know it can be done since my Calcium reactor uses a smaller version of the eheim hobby pump... but it came preinstalled so i cant really help on how to do it... just know that it can be done. Do they come standard with metric plumbing sizes or do they have north american versions that use our measuring sizes?

I run a 1260 externally. It has non US size fittings also.
I used small sections of flex hose, clamped to the barb attachments, and then to pvc.
