I'm going to be setting up another tank sometime soon. Planing on making the old tank (46 gallon) an anemone tank with probably a few fromia stars and serpent stars and maybe a true Linkia. Will be putting hermits and snails in there..yes, I know a mantis will eat them, but that's ok!

Will a mantis co-habitate with anemones and starfish? I'd probably put an O.s. in the tank.

My mantis co-habitates fine with anemones but tends to love a meal of fresh brittle or serpent starfish from time to time. Unless they are red in color, my best quess is that the idione that causes their coloration must taste bad. My mantis will not eat anything red at all.

That is REALLY interesting! I might have to get some veggie food coloring and see it my mantis reacts the same way!

There was an incident on another forum where a mantis picked off a serpent star leg by leg... The reefer was very angry and left it in his sump with an uncovered impeller. The poor mantis died but it took the expensive impeller along with it! :(

I've also heard that they are aware enough of anemones to stay clear of them.

hth!
