After a 3 year break and a move across the country I decided to buy a new Solana XL60.

So far I'm quite happy with the Solana XL60 as it fits the room I have for it perfectly. Some times I wish I bought a 30x30x24 or a 36x24x24 but it wouldn't fit as well, I'd have to pay more and there would be more maintenance. The XL 60 is the perfect size for my budget, space and maintenance time.

Anyway here is what I have setup

AquaFX 50GPD RODI

Current Outter Orbit 250W HQI with 4 T5's - Happy with it so far except the fan is quite loud.

Phoenix 14k 250w bulb - Nice color

Vertex IN100 - Good quality at a decent price

Vortech MP20 - Expensive but moves a lot of water and no wires in the tank

Vortech MP10 - Really small about half the size of the MP20. Only downside is the dryside runs much hotter than the MP20 and it makes a humming sound the MP20 doesn't.

Tunze Osmolator - I'm really glad I bought this. Works like a charm. I put the sensors in a plastic juice container with small holes drilled in it. I did this just in case the skimmer went crazy and dumped lots of micro bubbles in the sump and cover the sensors.

45lbs of Jakarta Live rock - Nice rock which isn't very dense. Lots of nice shapes and easy to stack. To top it off i got it for $6.29Cad per lb.

20lbs of Fiji Pink Sand

Xantrex Power Source 400 - If the power goes out it should run my quiet 1 return pump for about 6 hours. Pretty good insurance for $200cad!

The tank has been setup for 5 weeks now. Going to buy a small one spot fox face and slowly add in sps, some lps, a few polyps and some clams. Will decide what other fish i want later. Maybe a Mandarin goby.

Currently dosing Brightwell MicroBacter 7, Reef Code A and B and Kent Tech M magnesium.

I have 3 things left on my shopping list to buy.

1) Controller
2) kalk Reactor
3) Chiller

Can someone recommend good ones? For the Chiller it has to be quiet. The Controller has to be reliable

Thanks,

I can't say that microbacter 7 works or not. I can say it's doing no harm. It could be coincidence but when I started dosing microbacter7 I had a bit of algae/diatom growth and now 1.5 weeks later I have absolutely no algae at all. The tank is really clean.

I'm not doing vodka at all.
