I bought a pair a black clowns 4-5 days ago and they are starting to get what looks like white powder on their skin. The smaller of the two is getting strings of slime hanging off of him. When i had got them i had my water checked and the guy at the lfs said my salinity was at 1.027! Im ordering a refractometer so i can get correct reading and change the water slowly and get it back down to a reasonable level. Is the white powder/slime caused by the high salinity, or is it a disease or parasite?

My other water parameters are
ph: 8.3
Am: 0
NI: 0
NA: 10ppm
iodine: 0
calcium: 360

Here are two pictures of the clowns, on the one you can see at the top fin theres a white hue, and the other you can see what looks like slime hanging off of him.

I would think I would be caused by a large anmount of stress.I have had clowns do this befor when stresed also!

Definitely brook. Treat with Formalin. It moves very quickly and they will be dead within 48 hours. 1.027 isn't that high.

Brook, it wiped out my system. Best of luck that you caught and treated in time.
