Out of the 3 tangs which one is more hardy for my tank. I really want the achilles, however many tell me to stay away from them. I have a 210 gallon set up with live rock only. Tank mates are lionfish/eel/blue face angel.

1.Powder Blue Tang - I have heard these guys die fast to ick.

2. Sohal Tang- unsure if they are hardy? experience please.

3. Achilles Tang - heard to be very weak, and a waste of money due to high mortality rate in captivity.

-which one should i go with. Which one is more hardy?

powder blue would be my choice. Sohal are more aggressive and get real big while the achilles is more delicate.

I would probably go for the powder blue out of the three.

Make sure you get a very healthy one from a reliable source, like Liveaquaria Diver's Den. Health of the specimen on hitting your QT is important to survival. I don't think any of the three tangs you mentioned are the best choice as a hardy tang for a 210 gallon community FOWLR. However, of the three, I agree, the powder blue is probably your best bet.

It dont matter which tang you get... its about picking the right one. I would personally buy it from a lfs and see if it eats and exam the fish closely. I just cant trust buying delicate fish off the internet but many have had great success.

Sohals aren't that delicate: http://wetwebmedia.com/Asohal.htm

But I think they get too big for that size tank, and I would probably go with the powder blue, but you are right about the ick. I would get the fish eating very well in QT tank first then treat it with cupramine for ick, then introduce it to the display.

The PB is the best choice for the size of your tank. Even then, it will look pretty confined in there. As others have said, make sure you ge a healthy one.

IMO, for the long haul the hardiest would be the Powder Blue.
