Hello everyone!

I have a reef tank setup as a Non-Photo system. The corals consist of Tubastrea, Rhizotrochus, Balanophyllia, Dendrophyllia, Gorgonians, Tube Anemones and various other corals and inverts. I have no lighting over the tank, so the only light it gets is ambient lighting from my company showroom.
I keep the water pretty cool, in the summer around 75 and in the winter 70-72. Rockwork consists of a very nice archway and carious other caves and hiding places. The tank is an Elos Mini.

I am wanting to recreate a japanese reef, and need some ideas. I really like the look of the Orange Striped or Izu cardinalfish, and am thinking about a trio of these. Other than these fish I am stumped with regards to other fish.

Any suggestions?

~Michael

I believe there are a few nice looking japanese deepwater anthias you could include.

You have the ideal setup to keep one of my all time favorites. Anomalops katoptron. The Flash Light Fish. I kept a half dozen of these in a actinic lite 30 gallon at a fish store I managed years ago. They can be a bit touch and go but I think you certainly have the skills and fortitude to be successful with these guys. Talk about an amazing display. These guys put on quite a show. La had a group of these available a few months ago. I am sure Kevin could get you some. T Oh by the way pics are a must. So get to clicking shome shots and posting them. Hoe about a pinecone fish, (Monocentris japonicus)

Do you think that a 20 gallon is large enough for a Pinecone fish or flashlight?

Not according to info I found on LA. Looks like the flash light fish needs a minimum tank of 125 gallons.

And the pinecone fish needs 70 gallons.

I do really like these. How is yours doing? How do you like him?
This is actually a fish that I have never seen in person.
