My friends ,
there are no words to describe my feelings for being a TOTM !
I am very very happy that you liked my reef and voted for it and i would like to thank you also for your kind words !
I cant think of a better "reward" for a reefer who spends lots and lots of time taking care his "pets" !
I wish the best for all of you and your tanks! ;)

Many of you wonder how so many fish can live in a 80g tank. Luck i would say is the first factor. :D
All of my fish live together from last christmas and i had only a few fights between my blue tang
and my regal after the regal was put in the tank but lasted only 1-2 days (btoh of them were purchased tiny) .
Another reason that makes the living harmonic its the great number of caves and places where fish can hide .
There is plenty of live rock in my tank and the aquascape is designed so as to look natural but also to make the living of my fish free of stress.
The filtration is another parameter that keeps things in balance.
Two skimmers , refugium with chaeto and zeovit method keep my NO3 and PO4 undetectable .
Last but not least water changes 10% per week help me to maintain a very viable tank for my fish.

I must say the aquascaping on this tank is very appealing and natural. Many times I see large aquariums with high-end equipment and healthy corals, but a lackluster haphazard aquascape lets the whole tank down IMHO. Your tank is a true benchmark of a successful reef-scape.

Very Nice!
How much live rock do you have and what method did you use for mounting the corals?
My friend aquascaping took me several months. Almost every week i changed a little piece of rock to make it look more attractive.
I have about 40 kg of live rock in my tank and it is placed in rods from hard teflon attached firmly to bases of teflon. I use a drill and "tire ups" to attach each piece with others.
At the following pics you can see the same bases at one of my friends tank.

Thanks nomadic!
I use the 150s since i started reefkeeping and i am very satisfied from the growth of my corals. Also i use 5 39 watt T5 , at a total of 500 watt per 80 gallons.
Moreover i have seen tanks full of sps which run only with T5 and are fantastic.
One of my favorites is this one ... http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2008-07/totm/index.php

Thank you so much IndyReefMan !
As far as the zeovit schedule is concerned :
Every day: zeostart , sponge power.
Tuesday-friday : zeobak , zeofood
Monday-wednesday-saturday: coral snow , Pohls xtra , amino acid lps , amino acid , coral vitalizer.
The doses are dependent on the bioload and the gallons of the tank .

I wish the best for your tank too , mate!
I first noticed the changes on the coral's colour after 2 months had passed.
I noticed a little bit brighter colours with greater polyp extension.
The zeovit system runs for a year now and i can say that i didnt find any difficulties at the procedure.

very nice tank! How are the 150 watt halides working for you in the tank. i think it said your tank was 23 inches deep. i am looking to put 2 150 watt halides and 4 54 watt t5's over a 24 inch tall 120 gallon dominated sps tank. It seems as if the 150 watt bulbs are in fact powerful enough which contradicts the advice i have been given about upping my wattage for the 24 inch deep tank. any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks

Thank you for your kind words FishMachine!!!
As far as the 150s are concerned , i am sure that they will work well in your 24" tank if placed in an apropriate reflector (lumenarc , lumenbright etc.)
250s will work better for sure and and will help more sps to grow bigger and faster .
Adding 2 (or 4) T5 also to enhance the colours will give you the ideal result.

How deep is the sand bed in the display tank? Do you keep sand in the hob refugium - how deep is that?
Thank you James :D !
Skimming is only one major factor of success in reefkeeping! You should consider also other factors such as water chemistry , lighting , stability of water parameters etc to get the most out of your corals and fish.
The sand bed in the display is ~2"-2.5" . The refugium has onle chaetomorpha algae well lit . I believe that dsb and chaeto dont work well together in the same refugium. Moreover i believe that dsb needs both depth and area .
Keep up with the hard work and you will be rewarded !
I wish the best for your tank!
