maximas are rock clams, put him up on one and he will be happy again

Put a rock or shell under the clam in the sand. Once he attaches, you can start moving it up onto the rocks

I have a 4 bulb T5 fixture with 2 super blue actnics, 14k daylight and a pink. I am looking at get a couple of clams (maxima & crocea). Would these bulbs be sufficient?

You hear a lot of good things about T-5's but my 2 cents is that Metal Halide is the cream of the crop for clams and there colors and health.

i''m only 3 months w/ a derasa under t5 and it has about an inch of growth. color is amazing also. i agree with 2suns that mh is the light. BUT if yr t5 have individual reflectors, it's worth it, otherwise ONLY a derasa/squammie in a shallow tank. how large is yrs?

I have two croceas under a four bulb t5 fixture with no problems at all..I have had one clam for over 2 years and the other just under 2 years so would consider that a success..I really haven't had any issue keeping any kind of coral either but I do tend to stay away from the very light demanding ones. hth :)
