My LPS corals do not do much. I have a fox, frogspawn ,and 2 heads of trumpet. They open fine but do not make new skeleton. The frogspawn has new heads that are getting large but no new skeleton just flesh. Any suggestions. I get good coraline growth. My softies and zoos do great as well as my gorgs.

Nitrates are a little high but what are the phosphate readings?
Excess phosphate can inhibit calcification.

i thought that may have been an issue a while ago. testing phosphates is not reliable. To be sure phosphates are not the issue i installed a phosphate reactor several months ago. I have good coraline growth so i do not think that is the issue.

I guess I could try running more GFO in my reactor but I do not think that would help. I am using the amount directed, maybe a little more and got it from bulk reef supply

Patience and some coral food...perhaps in the form of phytoplankton may help. One of the heads on my frogspawn has been splitting for a while...or at least trying to. I don't know...I really don't mind what it does...let nature do it's thing, as long as it seems happy. = )

i feed rotifers, reef chili, daphina, prawn eggs to my corals. I am trying to get some insite as to why there is no skeletal growth. There has been no skeletal growth in over a year. My frogspawn has sprouted a few new baby heads but they are only flesh not skeleton.
any ideas as to why no skeleton growth
