ok so i recently stopped using carbon everyday and within 2 days the water gets cloudy and starts to smell i was wandering how to keep this from happening. or any other suggestions. i dont want to run the carbon 24/7 because of all the minerals it exports.
Thanks

Carbon will not hurt your tank and it sounds to me like its necessary so I would just continue to run it. There is nothing really you can replace carbon with.

there is one other thing out there that i use myself and it works for me yes i have to use carbon every other week for 2-3 days but this stuff works and it also does not remove any of the good trace elements.(KENT Organic Absorption Resin) i have had no problems at with it and have been using it for close to a year, also it can be regenerated so your not throwing it out once its done.RJ
