SHould i be adding the CUC to the tank during the cycling phase or wait until tank has finished cycling? Also for a 125g reef tank set up with around 100lbs of live rock and 100+ lbs of live sand what would you reccomend i get to be the CUC? i have seen the prepackaged dels as well as build your own type of deals online. thoughts?

Do not add anything til the cycle is complete.

Definately wait until your tank is finished cycling. Contact John at reefcleaners.org, tell him how much you want to spend, and he will put a CUC together for you. I just received an order from him and for $50 I got 90 dwarf cerith snails, 6 nassarius snails, 22 Florida cerith snails, 11 large nerite snails, and 48 blue leg hermit crabs. This was for a 90 gallon.

i'm not all that worried about the cost i was more so curious how many and what types of critters to include. thanks for the breakdown.

If you plan on having a sand bed I would stock more snails and less hermits. hermits have a tendancy of being opportunistic and just eating anything they find including beneficial worms and even your snails. I learned that the hard way on my first tank.

i am planning to do a shallow sand bed probably around 2" i would guess is what it will end up at.

+1 on Reefcleaners.org. Ordered 20 dwarf ceriths, 7 nerites, and 8 Florida ceriths. When the bag came, I got about 30-40 dwarf ceriths, 11 nerites and 10 Florida ceriths. Got em for cheap too.
