Found a Mantis - I.D. Please

well, all my calling around worked out cuz I found a mantis at a nearby LFS.

The guy got him in as a hichhiker 3 years ago and has never taken him out. He describes it as 3 inches long, pitch black, with "bulseyes" on it's smashers, light dots with white rings around... I dunno. Anyone know what he is talking about?

he said If I can get him out of the tank, he's mine.

No clue. Are you doing a species tank for him?

yeah I'm setting up a species tank but having trouble locating a mantis. I called around today though and 1 LFS says they can order me one, I'll see if that comes through.

The key to identifiying this guy is the color of the "light dots" with the white ring. If you can give me a color - purple, grey, blue, orange, yellow - I can probably make a good guess as to the species.
