hi all,
i have a kalk reactor on line....
works great....mixes 2 times a day and the upper area becomes mostly clear....
it ran for 2 weeks and after 2 weeks i noticed the upper area not clearing as much staying much more milky... then also noticed it precipitating where it was adding to the sump...
i cleaned it out and restarted... again ok with fresh batch of kalk...
now 2 weeks later...its much more milky again...
what is going on? is the chemistry changing as the kalk ages or depletes?
help please....

You may be forming insoluble calcium carbonate particles. Nothing much to worry about, but it points out that just because you have solids there does not mean you necessarily have dissolvable lime present.
What sort of source water?

my be wrong but here it goes, i just recently set up my reactor.(geo) i programed my ac3 to mix. after a few days my alk alk/cal started to drop. a little poking around showed that my kalk reactor was not mixing as i programed. kalk reator was clear, other then on the very bottom, kalk powder settled out. minor flaw in the program. repaired problem. now kalk reactor is cloudy with excess powder on the bottom. not sure if this is normal. all ican say is my ph is up. need to wait a few days to the water. i mix 1m 4x a day. dosing with litermeter.

HI Randy,
Im not sure what you are saying on that one...
when i refill the reactor every 2 weeks do i need to drain the water to get rid of those solids?
or is it i am running out of kalk and therefore the solids are in solution????

i just refilled my reactor with some more kalk..now the mixed water settles and has more clarity to it...
was the heavy clouding i was getting simply it was out of kalk and now that i have more kalk it doesnt let the clouding particles form???

mine does the same thing, i have 1/2 delay before the dosing pump powers up. usally it is real white color about 1/2 up the reactor. after it settles the powder is on the bottom. about 3/4 up has a haze and the top is clear.
