I know that the general rule is that sps and angels don't play well together, but, it seems that I am seeing an increasing number of people having success. If you fall into this category, post those full tank shots and your experiences. Thanks!

They nip corals :) Beyond that,

Here is a thread from a few months ago :)

I love it when people judge their tanks by PE :lmao:

Thanks for the thread Mark. While I realize that nipping is going to be on fish by fish basis, it seems that the likelihood of this is perhaps less its perceived to be, especially for predominantly sps tanks.

Angels do a lot of rock grazing. What do we attach to our rocks :p I'd say my two centropyge nip 80% of my corals. They really hit a few of my monti's more than the others though.

I recently added a small african flameback to my heavily stocked 29 gallon. Everything was fine for the first couple of weeks, then I began noticing things were a bit off. I was losing PE and tissue on alot of my corals and my LPS were looking terrible. Sure enough, the culprit was in fact the baby angel. My tank was like a buffet for her, and it pained me to see her bounce from coral to coral like a pinball machine. The last straw was when she almost made a meal of my BGM frag.

As Mark said, angels are rock grazers and spend most of their day grazing off rocks. Well, in my tank there is hardly any rock showing anymore, so I can't really blame her for the nipping. Lucky for me I was able to catch her yesterday with a DIY water bottle trap with her favorite food in there as bait; a nice fluffy acan colony! Needless to say I was very relieved any my corals are definitely happier. I don't think I'll be adding another angel to this tank while it's up.

There's no contest when Mark loads up his pictures.

I've had potters and a multicolor angel in my tank. I never really had any problems with nipping. From my experience, I believe feeding heavy helps- especially during the first introduction.

I have a flame angel that nips, but my PBT takes bites off the tips of my SPS. You have to weigh the beauty of such creatures.

Feeding heavily did nothing for me. I was feeding my tank more then I'd like to admit to try and satisfy her. She would eat like a pig, and then when the food was gone from the water column, it was back to the destruction. Obviously every fish is different, I'm just sharing my experience and it shouldn't be taken as gospel.

my angels nip my SPS but it doesn't do any harm. just less PE. BUT they EAT my LPS. fortunately they haven't tasted my chalices yet but they love my micromussa and acans. i can't keep them in my tank because of them. surprisingly they don't like my elegance coral though.
