I am intereseted in buying 3 fairy wrasses to add to my 180g.
I currently have a possum wrasse and a mystery wrasse.
Would I be asking for trouble?
Other fish include:
1 yellow belly damsel
1 flameback angel fish
1 kole tang
1 regal tang
2 pyramid butterflies
2 pajama cardinals
1 black clown
1 barlett anthias
1 orange shoulder tang
1 wantanbei anglefish

I have a large mystery wrasse with my fairy wrasses. They get along mostly other than the Scott's which tries to be the boss. My favorites are the Rhomboid and Flame with the Linneatus close. Have all three in my tank.

Is that Mystery large or FUlly established? If so it might be questionable as they act like 6lines and can become aggressive against new wrasses or fish that look like them. I added all my wrasses at the same time. No issues due to this.

The wrasses that I would be adding will be bigger by at least two more inches.
I agree w/ adding all at same time but unfortunately they were not available at lfs when I was adding all my other fish to the new tank.
I figure with adding three at once the aggression will be spread out.

My worry thoughts are on the other fish I have like the yellow belly damsel and the flameback anglefish.

My mystery wrasse has been in the tank for 18 months (almost the oldest wrasse). When ever I add a new Wrasse they are put in a small container in the tank so the other wrasses get used to them in the tank. Just added a rhomboid two weeks ago and the agression was minimal. Still a little from the Scotts but he is flashes everything in the tank.

Sounds like a very good idea.
The container is a clear one I assume, like a tupperware type?

Acclimation box is the perfect answer to getting the other fish used to the newbies.

I had it made for me, but the member hasn't had the time to make them anymore.
I wish he did, I had alot of people wanting them.

Well I figured that I had to act since I was due to pick them up yesterday after a week at the lfs. I bought glad storage with lids at the dollar store and drilled lots of holes in three of them. I tied fishing line to each container so that they would not sink and float all over the place.

Then let them loose and turned off all lights after being in the containers for about 6 hours around midnight. This morning with just the daylight coming in from the windows I noticed two of the fairy wrasses but not the scotts. I started with the actinics and of course both became skitish and dove into hiding places on the rocks. After an hour of the mh's on I sat in front of the tank and noticed the two same wrasses just swimming along in seperate parts of the tank. Then I saw him the scotts fairy wrasse in the back of tank just swimming along like nothing.
Looks like they have so far taken each a section. May be too soon to tell on territory.
On the other hand have not seen my mystery wrasse. But as the name says it will mysteriously appear when least expected.

Thanks for the tips!:bounce2:
