I have an extra 400 watt metal halide setup sitting around and wondering if it will be to much light for a tank only 10" deep that will be sps only? Planing on buying a lumen bright mini or similar reflector since I only have a spider reflector now.

If you wouldn't run the 400 watt what would you use?

A lumenbright + 400 will easily bleach your corals. I would stick with that spider reflector for now or going with a lower wattage bulb

if you do go with the lumenbright.. mount it at least 24in. above it

On a tank that shallow I would throw on a few T5 tubes.

What are the other dimensions?

+1
your 400w mh lights or any MH will out to much heat. I would do t5 and save $ on your light bill. IMO

I love my 400w MHs on my 24" deep sps 100g. However, I think you'd roast pretty much everything in a 10" deep tank. I'd go with 175w. You could certainly get decent par with T5 only but personally I greatly prefer how much more MH pops color over T5.

Dimension are 20x20x10 rimless with external overflow.

I figured the common response would be not to use the 400 watt guess I will just have to sell it. Im open to T5 lighting but really don't know much about T5. I was looking at the 20" Current Nova Extreme Pro T5 6 x 18 watt fixture or just go with a 150 or 175 watt metal halide setup.
