I and a friend have been looking for some neon orange caulastrea. I however, cannot find even a pic of neon orange caulastrea. Does anyone know if there is such a thing?

Not sure. To be honest, I've seen quite a few colors, and I wouldn't consider it an impossible find, but it sure is tough. I did a little digging and came up empty.

Good luck.

Hmmm, never seen orange either. Would be pretty cool to see some though. I have seen a red torch coral, so it wouldn't be shocking to me to find an orange caulastrea.

I found a guy at a LFS I go to who claims he has had some in his store before and thinks he can get it again for me, and my friend. I won't believe it until I see it but hopefully he pulls through. I made sure to see that he understood exactly what I was talking about, I said not the red with green center... and he said "I know" and then pointed at a neon orange fungia plate he had in a tank for sale and said it is the same color as that. We shall see...

I did the same thing with photoshop just to see what it would look like and it just makes me want it more. I'm really really hoping my guy pulls through and finds some of this stuff.

I bet the orange caulestrea is more along the lines of the aussie orange lobos that have been coming in with small heads and growing in a clustered skeletal pattern.

Akimbo the ones in your pic are brown with green centers. If you look in corals of the world by veron in volume 3 it does not show any species of candy cane that are describes as being orange in color? If someone could find some it would be a rare find! :fun4:

if someone could find pink polka dotted Caulastrea it would be an even rarer find. I must now unsubscribe from this thread of nonsense!

You know, how do you know it's nonsense? We've only explored 2% of the world's oceans and anything is possible. There are thousands of new species discovered each year!

Ok, go to the post that starts with a cardinalfish with eggs in his mouth, go four down from that pic, and tell me what you see.

That looks like an NPS coral. I'm not real good with IDs on those, but maybe a dendro.
