I would like to upgrade my pumps and can’t decide if I should go with Tunze or Vortech here is the Problem My tank is 96x48x16 so it is a shallow reef and I have a sand bottom. If I put the pumps to low I will blow away the sand if I put them to high I will suck air. Can anyone help me with the pros and cons of ea Pump and what pump would be the best for me with this tank

Thanks Ron

ur welcome, I got the votechs first and they are great but u are limited on where u can aim them so I just got 2 6055 tunzes and u can position them to complement the vortechs and aim them to eliminate any dead spots.

I would order both, the Tunzes can be moved to different directions and the Vortech has the batterie back up.

I have both as well and like them both equally. For a shallow tank I would go with Tunzes. Place them low and point them up. No sand or air problems.

FYI, Tunze also has battery backup capability on the controllable models.

Both are great, and I've owned both brands myself.

Personally, I'd go for the Tunze in this case (especially the older models). They have the ability to throw water a longer distance (more directional) than the Vortech's.
