Does anyone know where you can get plumbing parts, as in the pipes for the output, for a Reef Octopus skimmer? I've looked all over locally but can't find metric plumbing.

Thanks,

You can get a gate valve mod for just under 40 bucks at www.marinesolutionsinc.com check it out its a good value and a decent mod.

I made my own gate-valve mod for mine using 1-1/2" PVC and gatevalve from savko. If you remove the riser tube, the PVC fits over the output nice and snug. I'll try to dig up the pictures and post them.

Finally found a picture. The T at the top was used to support wires and has since been removed. Basically, you cut a piece of 1-1/2 to the same length as your output tube after the riser is pulled off. Connect a T, extend the new riser to above where you expect your water level to be (I made mine taller so it was higher than my ATO reservoir). Connect a gate valve to your T using small sections of PVC then add an elbow to direct water back to the sump.

When I decided to meshmod my skimmer, I had to cut the output tube down a few inches.

if you know someone with a lathe, you can turn down Inch PVC Pipe to fit the metric plumbing on the skimmer. Metric to Inch PVC fittings are a rare find.

The standard 1-1/2 PVC should fit directly over the output pipe for the octopus skimmers. The riser tube will need to be removed though.
