I dose with sugar but have used vodka. Sugar seems to be getting it done cheaper.

Thanks

There are little, if no, studies on this yet. There are a number of active threads discussing both. I would recommend searching them out and deciding for yourself. They both are a form of carbon dosing. Which one may be more optimal has not yet been determined as far as I know. :)

Reefbox,

How much sugar are you dosing per total water volume and how often do you dose it?

The results from dosing vodka and sugar likely won't be exactly the same, but I agree that there's very little data on the subject. Each tank might react differently, for example. Sugar seems to be capable of causing a bit more trouble for corals, perhaps, so I'd experiment very carefully with it.

It would be interesting to see the results of dosing sugar, and if there are any adverse effects, opposed to dosing with vodka. You should keep the thread informed of your results. Helps other learn along with you.
