View Full Version : Is a koralia 4 too much for a 4' 75 gallon tank? Help ASAP

I'm thinking about doing a koralia 3 and 4 for the main part of the tank and a 1 and 2 behind my rockwork. Is this too much for the tank? I am going to have a mix between LPS at the bottom and SPS mid-high level.

absolutely not ... i would go with 2 #4s and the ones behind the rock work.

I have a K2 and a K4 in a 30 softie tank. You won't have any problems.

I have three K4's in my 4' 75 ... imo it provides a perfect ammount of flow, and my tank is similar to yours in lps and sps

I just have two k3s in my 75gal and even that is plenty of flow. I also have a small k1 behind the rocks just to keep things moving.

Ok, Thank you guys, I am going to do a k4 and a k3 on top. and a k2 and k1 behind my rock work at the bottom. I might even use my k nano for even more movement behind my rocks. I just dont know if that might be too much clutter.

I wouldn't all that starting and stopping could ruin the pump

K4's shouldn't be run on a wavemaker. The constant hard starts would result in significant premature wear not to mention the racket they make on start up.

Maxijet 1200's are the choice for most on that wavemaker.

Matters how much money you have??
Koralia makes a wave maker, but I think its around $700 with the pumps. You could also do two vortechs.

I have 2x Koralia 4's in my 72g bowfront. Great flow for all corals, lps, sps, softies...

Koralia work ok on timers as long as its not a wavemaker. I used to run my 2 on my 90gallon with 1 turning off for a hour every 2 hours. Just enough to vary flow.

I used 1 K4 and 1 K3 in a 65g before upgrading to an MP40w.
The Vortech is far superior, but for the price the Koralia's do a good job moving water. For those on a tight budget, the Koralia is tough to beat.

I run a k3 and k4 in my 75g and have problems keeping low flow on the the sand for my lps. I was thinking of going with 2 k3's and a maxi jet or two.

I have 2 k4s in my 75 but I took the flow constrictors off so they blow in a V pattern.

In my 3' 58, I have a 2000gph maxijet mod, a K4. a Seio 1500 and I could use a little more flow. If you add the return that's about 5300 gph. Flow is as equally important as light for an SPS tank.

4-K4's would be a good start, but I would go bigger. Placement of LPS becomes an issue and aquascaping plays a role. I hide my hammer in a low flow area. Yes I have sand, about 3" of it. You want your flow to come from low in the tank, upward, not high and blowing down, to prevent sandstorms, it just takes a little planning and moving things around to the right position.
