View Full Version : Why do we worry about the dangers of ozone?

If ozone is so unstable and breaks down ["decaying to ordinary diatomic oxygen (in about half an hour in atmospheric conditions)" Quote from wikipedia] and our generators for an average sized aquarium (150gal) put out a minuscule amount, Why do we worry about it to the point we are venting the exhaust of our skimmers out of the house and at the very least filtering it through pounds of carbon?

I understand it causes respiratory problems and can be very dangerous, but shouldn't the small amounts we generate just breakdown?

It can easily be smelled coming from hobby generator, so it lasts long enough to be potentially toxic.
