Helllo All,
I am having issues with high calcium of 500ppm/Mag 1500ppm and low ph of 7.6-7.8.Alk is 7-8.My tank is 150gallon including sump.I am not doisng any tw part solution because we don't get it here.I dose baked baking soda everyday.
I have tried the skimmer tube way and also opened the doors but no luck.I stay near the beach side so humidty is an issue.Dose weekly trace elements plus iodine.I am not using any Kalk reactor or Calcium reactor.I was using a Korallin denitrator.Any ways I can raise my ph and alk although I feel my alk is ok.Please advise.

When was the last time you calibrated your pH meter?

hey haskar, where did u get the denitrator from?
btw, if ur not dosing anything how did ur calc get up that high? what salt do u use?
also maybe ur test kit is inaccurate
also, 2 parts are all over the place here, but they charge 150 bucks for kent 2 part (approx $50)
if ur interested in some good stores pm and I'll let you know

When was the last time you calibrated your pH meter?
Ph was calibrated about about two weeks back with American pinpoint ph7.
Not sure what I should do.I do weekly WC of 15% with Marinium Salt.A good salt brand used by quite a few hobbyists over here.Has good mix of all trace elements.

Just pH 7, not a second fluid too?
I would not rely much on single point pH calibration.

Thanks kkil4life,appreciate your help. The shipping charge to DXB is the killing part.I was dosing calcium 20 ml earlier before changing my present
brand of salt.

I switched to marinium salt a few months ago, but now that I moved my tank I shifted back to IO since marinium wasn't available.
for some reason I started seeing problems with marinium which I never had with IO.
Just experimenting for a bit with IO now to see if its the cause of my problems.
SHJ market as well as a few shops there have a lot of supplements if ur in need (I haven't found much supplements anywhere in dxb).
as for shipping from online sites, I order some stuff with a friend from premiumaquatics if ur interested u can join in on the next GB as well
btw, ur using RODI water right?
cuz if ur up for it, I suggest u do a 50% water change, SOLVES A LOT OF PROBLEMS
but just for our information what problems exactly are you having?
cuz if ur test kits are out of whack the PH will automatically correct itself (atleast to a reasonable level)

I would not rely much on single point pH calibration.
Its Amercan marine pinpoint ph 7.0 calibration liquid.

I would get a second tester and then gor from there, if it is to low get a ph buffer.

Yes, but single point pH calibration is not adequate. Even if your pH meter only uses a single fluid, you need to check it in a second, different pH, such as pH 10:

Checked with ph 4.0 and recalibrated with ph 7.0,now the ph is still showing as 7.8.Alk is 8.I am dosing baked baking soda mixed with RO water of 1.5litre daily but no avail.Only increased by 0.1 and goes back to same ph after 05 minutes. The reading is ph 7.8 during day time and 7.6 and night time.
Please assist.
Another issue is we don't get pickling lime.Checked in a few supermarkets but no luck.Unfortunately we are deprived of the good stuff over here due marine hobby being not too popular.
