I've had sally's in the past, but they never bothered anybody, maybe the fish took a turn for the worse?

The eyes, were clearly eaten post mortem, and likely the fins as well. I don't think there is a crab out there that can snatch eyeballs on the fly. Bummer about the fish though.

Unlike a few wrasses I've seen in action. Got any of those in the tank, by chance?

I would agree that the eyes were taken post mortem, but that's not to say the crab didn't kill the fish first. Sally Lightfoots, along with all other crabs, will eat anything they can catch. There's lots of stories of crabs killing fish.

I might be the crab, it might not. I wouldn't rule it out.

I think the crab just found a free meal when the YT died.
