I try to keep my salinity around 34ppt - 35ppt.
My tank is a AP24g nano.
I tested (Salifert test kit) my magnesium last week and it was down around 1200.
According to the "Reef Chemistry Calculator" I would need to add about 16oz of Randy's Magnesium supplement to get my mag up to 1500.
I mixed up the 7.25c of MagFlakes and .75c of Epsom Salts in a 1 gallon container with RO/DI water.

Today, before doing a water change, I tested my salinity and it was up around 37ppt (using a refractometer, calibrated today with Pinpoint 53.0mS fluid)
Did the additions of the Magnesium supplement cause my salinity to go up this high?

Thanks for your input.

Boosting magnesium by 100 ppm with any supplement will raise salinity by about 400 ppm, or 0.4 ppt. So say, from 35 to 35.4 ppt. :)

Thanks for that info Randy.
I had not seen that data while browsing thru much of the 2-part supplement literature.
