Hi All, Once you have acceptable Ca and Alk levels, how do you go about maintaining a stable level of these? I plan to use CaCl and Alkalinity as per (Recipe 1) in an article that was posted on this forum.
I would like to get comments on how people are dosing these, be it one shot (syringe), or dripping it into the system in the top-off water. I also plan to use the calculator to decide what is the deficit I wish to replace. Thanks

I find the use of a Litermeter to add the chemicals most simple. I fill my 2.5 gallon containers when they're empty and nothing else.

How high is the demand for alkalinity in the tank?
If it is low to medium, once a day dosing is likely fine. If it is high, then it may not be.
Once a day for calcium is plenty in most cases, sometimes once or twice a week may be adequate.

Understood, so I shouuld measure my Ca and KH, go to the calculator and plug in the numbers and dose the required amount in order to get to the desired level. I have read that usually, you will need to dose equal amounts of Ca and Alk. After a couple of weeks, I will then be able to figure out how much is consumed in my tank daily and then I will be able to drip in the replacement of these over 24 hours. How does this plan sound. Is this reasonable?

Yes, that sounds like a fine plan. :)
