Hey people

I wanted people to show off their most beautiful, rare, or exotic clams. Either ones that you own or you've seen before.

I have my own photo album here...

Victor they are beautiful!

I just got my first clam, a blue Maxima.
I am pretty proud of it but it is not as rare as some you show.

I don't have a pic yet but I will post one soon.

Tstone what are you doing here? :p

here is some crapy pics of my clams. Its real hard to take top down shots with my canopy :( So I used a mirror but it takes a lot away from the pic...

Here's three of them...

Vee,

I'm sure it will be fine, but you should give credit to the ones that they belong too.

oops ...

I hope no one takes offense that some of them are from vendors. I just download clams whenever I see one that I really like.

ha! Like I said, some of these clams I do not own. Just stuff I've seen and downloaded. There were two teardrops. One from Palmetto Reefs and one for ReeferMadness

vee,

Certainly no big deal but the tear drop on Palmetto Reefs is one of Clams Direct's clams. I see that Palmetto has a link to Clams Direct site as well as Clams Direct has a link to his site. Think that is a good combo as they both have great animals and customer service.

Two of the larger clams in my sump as part of the filtration system. Upper is a gigas and lower is a squamosa approaching the size of a football.

Those are big and the gigas looks nice. How much light do you have in the sump?

I only light the part of the sump which houses the clams. 250 watts metal halide 20000K. The other half of the sump is what Steve Tyree calls cryptic. Almost total darkness. Many sponges and tunicats grow there. Once again this is a major part of the filtration system. Inbetween these two area is an area receiving indirect light from the halides. This has a pile (150 lbs or so) of live rock rubble. God only know what lives there as I have not disturbed it in two years.
Here is a pic of a large derasa and a small crocea. The derasa is 9 inches approx from end to end.
