A strip of 3W LED lights that come in sizes similar to T5/VHO bulbs would nice to add to T5 or MH systems as supplemental lighting.

Does anyone know if such a thing is available or in the works? I plan on using an ATI Powermodule on my next tank. I think it would be cool to add a strip of 3w blue/white LEDs in front and back of the powermodule. This would add some shimmer and if dimmable would make for nice dusk/dawn and moonlighting. It would be even more cool to be able to dim the blue and white bulbs separately.

I could see nanocustoms / nanotuners coming out with something like this. However, anything above the 24" size wouldn't be very "nano". So I don't know if they would consider it.

It would be difficult to effectively cool 3W leds on a small strip like that.

Maybe look into the icecap led tubes

Maybe....

Aluminum square tubing could be used. The entire tube will act as a heat sink. It could also be actively cooled. Additional heat sinks could be added if necessary.
