mine stay on 24 hours a day. they use a very small amount of electricity to run and they don't burn out that often.

24/7. I'm unconvinced they have any effect on my live stock and its not enough light for me to see much after the main lights go off. Has anyone sen any benefits from moon lights?

I turn mine off for 8 hours during the late evening. The corals directly under the moon lights never closed up at night, so to give them a rest, I cycle mine off.

I'm following along on this one as well. I've been running mine opposite the MH and VHOs but worry that it is not really simulating a natural moonlight cycle to do so. Is there a better way - any other thoughts?

Mine run 24x7. I personally think they're purely esthetic and don't have an effect on the fish or coral. But they sure make the tank look cool!

I run mine from actinic lights out at 9 PM until about 2 AM for about the same reason that thegrun gave.
