its going to be about excess nutrients for the most part. What are the parameters of your tank and what kind of set up do you run a little more info will help to get you more responses to your threads. Also it is pretty hard to point you in the right direction without knowing what we are working with. Never fear though there are some options for you to look at and differant trouble shooting things to try out.

I was having a big problem with hair algae too recently. My nitrite and nitrate levels were real close to zero and my ph was a consistant 8.2 so I was confused why it was growing. Tried adjusting the light as well but had no success. Corals and fish were just fine and not stressed at all. The whole thing confused me. My cure was I bought a sea hare. It prowls around my tank and eats all the hair algae off the rock and sand. It was only $6 and I couldn't be happier with what it's done for the tank

Had the same problem tried everything Foxface no tangs no sea hare no turbo no and by no I mean that they could not get ahead of it . Started rinseing food, cut feedings back to every other day, cut the amount back ,shorten light time to 5 hrs , and bought some Phosban . Got serious about water changes . I have to say it is almost gone . stubby
