Introduced a small Queen Angelfish (maybe one inch in length) to 55gal tank last night. Only other fish in tank are a Mystery Wrasse, BiColor Pygmy Angelfish, & a Diamond Goby. Introduced it with lights off & BiColor Pygmy was chasing it around. Haven't seen it all day. I am assuming it is hiding in one of the Live Rocks. It is not on floor anywhere. With my other tank when introducing new fish they would be harrassed for a day or two but never had one hide in a rock for such a long period of time. Anybody have experience with this or ideas.

Unproductive answer, but thank you for participating.
I've read that queen angels under 2" have high mortality and those over 6" have a difficult time adapting to prepared foods.
I think Gary is concerned about the maximum size of this fish with respect to the aquarium you are placing it in.

Thank you for your reply. I personally have not read about the high mortality rate with Angels under 2". I certainly would have considered this. Upon purchasing the fish, it was eating (mysis) & appeared very healthy. I felt my stocking order was fine, given that the Bicolor pygmy angel is only slightly larger than the small Queen Angel I added. I was also under the impression, given research, that a pygmy angel & a regular angel are fine to co-habitat together. Also, that one should add the pygmy angel first if planning on adding another regular angel. Also, for the long term, certainly a 55 gal isn't satisfactory for a Queen Angel in mid-juvenile or adult size. A year or less, given the size I purchased, I viewed no complications. I will be getting a 180 gal soon (within 6 months) which it would be transferred to.

I would say a 220 or bigger minimum is required for the Queen long term. I just Scuba Dove Aruba, and saw 18 Inch Spectacular Queen Angels down in the reefs...
