Hey all,

I have a outer orbit 2x150w & 4x39w t5s & have been wondering what is the best combo for color(dont care about growth..just color)? I havent sent the tank up yet but have fired the radiums & they look really bright white with just alittle blue ( kind of expected more blue).thoughts & experiences welcome.

Ron

Radiums usually do better on spec'd M80 magnetic ballasts. They do fine on electronic HQI ballasts as well, IMO.

If you just want color, the XM bulb is the best way to go. Second, the Phoenix bulb.

Thanks fisch, but I already have the radiums waiting for the tank setup. Have you used the xm 20ks?

No I haven't. I've used Radiums, and with T5 460nm supplementation they are gorgeous. I have an electronic HQI ballast.

Bulbs need 100 hours to burn-in, in which I bet you'll get a bit more blue, but not that much.

XM's have more color, but Radiums likely have 2x as much PAR.
