It's nice looking and pretty big. I put it in the tank but I think it's a little bit shocked from the transport and its laying on it's side and back, I hope it's alright. I'll get some pictures as soon as I can get this camera to work.

Did you check your params and check the lfs' salinity and temp with your tank's?

I got it at RAP, it was pretty lethargic the whole time. I checked my water and everything looks good. I'm sure it was probably stress and shipping, who knows what really happened, it was probably a number of factors that would bring a hardy creature like this down.

so sorry to hear, i know how long you've been looking for one. i talked to my lfs, medusa la, and the manager told me he's going to try to get me a peacock in. i can tell him to make it two if you like (assuming he remembers lol)

haha thanks, I actually have someone working on it, I just have to be patient and wait. I have a few other mantis' so it's not a total loss. My N.Wenn is really coming out a lot more and interacting. I moved my Smithii to a 10 gallon and he seems to be hiding right now.

well I'll be damned. I finally get my Peacock today and the EXACT same thing happened!

I slowly acclimated it with no stress or anything. It acted boring and barely moving in the box it was shipped in. When I finally placed it in after 2 hours of acclimation, it FREAKS out and starts swimming everywhere trying to escape then just lays in a ball. Moved a little over a period of 7 hours then I finally got it out and called it done.

First damn mantis ever and it dies. What a great start, eh?

crazy, I wonder why they do that, I'm sure it has to do with the stress of being shipped around, people seem to forget the level of intelligence these animals have. they think it's a stupid lobster or something.

Yup.

I have no doubt mine died because of the stress of shipping handling. The Fedex guy had no problem jerking it around when getting it out. I just hope I can get another one soon

sounds like something is wrong with the water in your tank.
