let see some pics/ details of your sps quarantine system. I am about to finally set one up with stuff that is laying around. so far I've got a 20H, 150w de MH. asm mini-g skimmer. I also have a 15 gal sump with a dsb up and running and the tank it is running right now is coming down next week. should I use it on my qt system? what are the pros/cons of running an external sump with a qt system?

I have had plenty of tanks as my QT. The basics are key to achieve stability. Right now, I use a shallow tank, 250 watt radium, galaxy, my old ER skimmer from my 90, a couple heaters,a chiller and a couple tunze nanostrems for flow.

After what I went through, A QT is a must. I sometimes leave corals out there long enough for me to change my mind on them. In order to properly QT, I wait at least a month, no matter what the coral is. You never know what you can introduce to your tank so I make sure it is long enough in case there are any eggs :(
