Hey,

I just recently bought a eShopps PF300 overflow box to compliment a mag5 with headloss calculated to about ~300gph. after rerouting some of the pressure back to the sump i've gained minimal flow.

all it boils down to is. the ~300gph calculated turned into max ~200 or more than likely less due to the PF-300 flow rate. i know it's MAX is 300 but i would hope a 1drain with minimal friction would produce ~250+.

is there anything i can do to modify or gain a bit more flow. only thing i could think of would be to increase diameter of what looks like a 3/4" ID for the Utube. if i move it upto 1" Utube would that help increase my flow rate?

also, would like to note that I have absolutely no bubbles in the Utube at this time. and restarted fine after w/c

to maxamize the flow, have you try lowering your prefilter box and increase volume of water in your tank?

as for the air bubbles, this is normal in a new set up. what you can do is soak the u-tube with vingegar as that will help little.

it's about as low as it can go. what is the U tube ID diameter? what is the difference between the pf-300 vs pf-800. is the bulkhead bigger? or is it the U-tube?

Maybe you can go here xxx.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=18358 and ask them or maybe a sponsor on the site in the sponsor forum maybe able to help you with that question
