Hey I have a MasterFlex L/S economy drive with two heads. I need to order some tubing for it but have no idea what type or size. I was going to try and run one size for feeding my calcium reactor and a smaller size to dose Kalk. If you have any experience using these pumps I could sure use some help.

Thanks

Merlin

Still need help?

What numbers are on the heads? That will tell you, your tubing size.

Thanks! Where's a good to place to order and what type of tubing should I use? I noticed it came in a bewildering array of materials.

Best place to buy. Unless you know off the top of your head, you have to cross the head numbers you have with the tubing size youll need. If you dont know, you can post them here and Ill help you. Itll be something like 7015-21, 7014-20, etc.
Ive orderd from usplastic before and had a great experince.

Tubing size depends on the flow rate u want to run at. I would look at colepamer.com. Yopu can call them ask for technical help.

Not exactly. You cant run bigger tubing in a smaller head. Like 15 wont fit in a 14. 14 will probably fit in a 15, but it wont be best, and it will probably back siphon because its not sealed between the housing and roller.
14 is about the size of a small shoe string, whereas 15 is closer to a big soda straw.
You have to match the head to how much you volume you want to pump. And take that times (X) the RPM of you pump to figure your output.

If its the pump he bought a while back, its a really, really good variable model. But I cant see the picture to see what heads he has. And hes not replying so I just gave him what he asked, the place to get tubing.

15 on the left, 14 on the right.

Not to hijack but... I have two pumps that have the EZ Load heads. When I bought the pumps one came with about a foot of this tubing and it lasted me over a year. I have tried to buy this particular tube a few times but have failed to get the one I want.

Any idea which tube size and material this is? 1/4" john guest tubing is on the left for reference.

Edit: I guess it is the 1/8ID 1/4OD tubing on that link. Not sure if its the same material but I assume it should work fine.

Whats the number on your EZLoad heads?
The best, and most widely used tubing is the Pharmed stuff. Unless your getting into something weird and out of this world, it'll do fine for you in a reef setting.

7518-60

I use it for my calcium reactor feed and an auto water changer. Nothing crazy I just liked how long the black tubing lasted before degrading. If this stuff is what is used a lot then I will give it a whirl. Thanks!

I love these pumps. They are the digital ones.

Just find what tubing matches the flow you want.
Start here and look at the specs for what you want as far as RPM vs desired flow.
Oops, second link.

Wow I am not sure what I like better. A 2x4 to the face or the prices on the second link :).

I think the previous online store will suffice. Thanks again. The pumps themselves are adjustable in small increments so the exact sizing doesn't matter as long as I can attach it to john guest tubing via little barbs. Right now I have the reactor running on co2 airline tubing =[ It works but probably won't for long. I was able to dial it in to be the same flow rate as before.

Sorry. I should have been more specific. Find what tubing you want, then cross reference the size and get it at USplastics. Much, much cheaper that way.

I used to have a chart that listed all the sizes but I cant seem to find it right this second. Ill look again in the AM. I think the turkey is kicking in ZZZZZZZZZZZZZ.

Sorry I've been out of town. I'll see if I can find those head numbers when I get back. I picked up this pump earlier this year on RC and it is variable speed. I really appreciate the help swingrrrr.

Alright just got home. The numbers on the heads are 7518-10.

So , does flow determine tubing size or not?

Ok, you got me smart guy. Yes and no. I just assumed that he had Standard heads. The EZ loads are not the most desirable, and are rarely seen.

Cry- Same answer as above. What kinda flow are you looking for?

Somwhere in the range of 30-80ml per minute. So if I wanted to find a better head unit, what should I be looking for?

I think a 7015-XX would fit the bill. To get a little less than 80ml/min, you could turn your pump down to about 50 RPMs. 30ml/min would be about 17RPM. You pump will do 7-200 RPM's so its doable. Of course double check and fine tune your numbers once you get everything set-up and running.
Your pump. (http://www.coleparmer.in/catalog/product_view.asp?sku=0755480&pfx=WW)BTW.
Plus you can run 1/4" RODI line to save money on tubing (i.e. in the pic above, my pump on the left.) All you need is about 1' per head/ per year.

Also, if you wanna check them out for yourself, here's a chart. Just to give you an idea.
