My tank uses 0.1 dKh of ALK a day. According to the calculator, that's only about 10ml/day of ALK I need to dose, 135gal system, best quess. Sometimes I am away for a day or two at work, plus I may just forget.

My pump does 100ml/min. I want to dilute the solution to do equate about 10/ml/min within that 100ml. I am not a math major, should I mix it in 10ml with 90ml to make 100ml total? Or 10ml with 100ml to make 110ml, but it should be 10% right? Can anyone give me the values to make 1 gallon at 10%?

Maybe I'm thinking about it too much.

There are approximately 3,780 millimeters in a gallon of water. So if you put in 378 ml of CaCO3 solution into one gallon of water and keep it in suspension (mixed) you should get the 10% ratio you are looking for.

In other words 10 ml of CaCO3 and 90 ml of RO/DI will give you the ratio you want.

How did you figure out that your tank uses .1 dkh per day? What test kit did you use? The lowest increment I have seen is .5. Did your dkh drop by .5 over 5 days and then you just divide by 5? I need to figure out a precise amount used in my tank.

I guess it's Lamotte.

Salifert. I’ve been testing every other day for a week. Every time I test its .2 lower or there about. So, I’m guessing .1/day. My tank is 135 gallons, so according to the calculator, I need 9.6ml/day to raise .1 dKh. But my graduated cylinder won’t exactly do 0.X increments so I make it an even 10ml.

I’m going to keep testing over the weekend, then start the dosing and testing on Monday.
