View Full Version : Help me choose which clownfish, please.

I'm new to saltwater. I know for sure that I want A. ocellaris or Semi Picasso clownfish.

I saw where the ocellaris are considered easy to keep, and I saw on one site the SPCs required moderate skill. Is this true, and why would this be.

I really like the look of the SPCs better, but I don't want to try to keep difficult fish. I'm likely to only buy two fish, not four, so I can't get both kinds. I have a 28g nano, so there's definitely no room for both sets.

What should I do? Why?

If you check the ORA website - http://www.orafarm.com

you'll see that picassos are just a variation of a true percula.

So if you think true percs are more difficult to keep then false percs/osc - then go with the ocellaris.

Otherwise if you like the spcs, go with the picassos. Good luck!

no such thing as a difficult clown IMO, what makes them difficult for some is the amount of time/ special preps needed is beyond what they think the fish is worth. Personally if I want a specific fish I have no problem going the extra mile (or 2 in some cases) to make them fat and happy.

all clows are pretty easy to keep IMO just like rag said. if u got the money to spend i would get a grade A or B picasso. onyx are pretty kool to and also black ocellaris too. maroon clows seem to be pretty aggrsive IME.
