Do these things work and are they worth it? Is the pinpoint one decent?

I wouldnt be one to monitor salinity, as salinity would stay the same if you have the same amount of water in tank.....
Top off with fresh water w/o salt to stay the same SG.
Using an Auto top off would save some time and cost would be cheaper than a monitor.
Yes they work. As to whether they are worth it that's a personal opinion. I have the pinpoint salinity monitor.
dirtStar: Salinity decreases as salt creep builds up and the skimmer is emptied. Also, a monitor can be used to check make-up water - not just the tank water.
