i love my vortech, only problem is that it has fallen twice. thats not too bad considering ive had it for about four months. but i was thinking could i silicone the back of the wetside? or would that mess up the way the magnets work. if i silicone it to the tank it would never fall down into the tank. any one ever try this or what do u think?

Are you sure you have the pin spacer set correctly?

i am a new vortech owner, what is the cause of it falling? can you set the pin spacer to the next notch up, or remove the spacer?

i bought mine used and it didn't have the little clip to hold the cord, do I need that? Does the cord have to go up, or can it go down?

no do not silicone it, it will ruin warentee. Contact eco tech marine and they should be able to help you out. They also have their own forum on this site in the sponsers section. I have had mine for about 7 mths with no problems as well. The cord should go up in case of the event of the motor seperating. The cord being up keeps it from falling/ swinging into the wall/tank

If its falling off there is some kind of problem, either with the spacer or the bearing among other things.

i have the cord up so the dry side doesnt hit the tank or the floor. i have the pin spacer in the correct position. the glass is 3/8. the tank is a 120 so i dont have very thick glass.

ive heard it depends on what mode it is in. in some modes the motor spins very slowly. but that never made sense to me because it never fell of when in feed mode which is barely spinning

Check the wet side bearing and soak in vinager if needed.

You can get more of the tape mounts from home depot. I loop the cord around something solid though because I find the tape mounts have 3m's worst double sided tape and will fall of if the pump dangles too long.

I applied the good 3m tape and have not had a problem since.

Sometimes a snail gets into the wet side and causes them to pop off. I have seen it first hand twice.

My 2 newest Vortechs have had the wetside bearing problem, which caused them to fall off after a short time. Contacted Vortech about it, There was some kind of problem with the newer ones getting a bad batch of bearings, and they sent 2 new bearings quickly, and havent had problems since.

Vortech does have the best customer service that I have ever seen. I talked on the phone with Steve for about 15 minutes, while he located my package, opened it, resoldered the wave driver, and replaced most of the parts on the wetside...all while on the phone with him.

To the OP, if you still have problems call Ecotech, they will get it setup for sure!

I had the same problem as well. I called Vortech and they said it's a bearing problem. I sent them a picture of the wetside disassembled and the sent me out a new bearing. Ever since then, I haven't had a problem.

call steven king at vortech
there is a white little spacer thing it goes in the hole on the top side of the magnet
if the white thing is stuck to a black piece put them in the oven for 20 mins at 200 degrees (i think that was right) it will get the moisture out and keep the thing from falling again till they mail you a new white piece
there support is best in the buisness call them

no problems here knock on wood... as much money that is spent on these pumps you would think they would last longer.... but you cant beat the costumer support that you get with these things... great product and even greater costomer support!

I had mine for like a good year and the wet side started to spinn and i sent it back to them and they replaced a few parts they wanted me to take it apart and send them pics but for the money that we paid for these things we shouldn't have to thats why i just sent it out... good luck

Its most likely the ceramic bearing then IMO. It won't fall at slow speeds, but at high speeds the bearing binds and it can fall off. I would e-mail Ecotech. They are very helpful.
