I know BRS has their own chemistry calculator but what product would be comparable to the BRS product on this calculator?

Thanks

Well that all depends on which of their products you buy.

Calcium is calcium chloride so I suspect it is comparable to the Dow flake.

They sell two alkalinity supps. Soda Ash and sodium bicarbonate. I suspect that is baked baking soda and plain baking soda.

They also sell 2 magnesium supplements. Magnesium chloride and magnesium sulfate. One is mag flake and the other probably epson salts.

So you should be able to use the table accordingly, unless I missed something. :)

I didnt take the time to cross reference BRS's calculator with JD's but if someone has time, it should be pretty easy to figure out. :)

Why don't you just use their calculator?

nothing wrong with checking and double checking. :)

The calculations for the alkalinity betweeen the two calculators appear to be way off

550 litres tank size
2.8 to 3.2 meq/l to raise

using Recipe #1 (BRS soda ash or baked sodium bi-carbonate I assume)

BRS Calculator 116 ml
Reef Chemistry Calculator 41.5 ml

BRS uses 2 cups per gallon
Randy uses 2 1/4 cups per gallon

???

You entered dKh not meq/L on the Reef Chem calculator. :D

but what product would be comparable to the BRS product on this calculator?

My recipe.
As to the apparent recipe difference...Once made into liquid form, BRS uses my recipe so use that entry on the calculator. They have adapted their amounts based on the exact materials they swapped into my recipe, but it is still the same liquid potency. :)

That is exactly what I had assumed. Thanks for confirmation.
