Hi!

I have currently a ProClear 100 under my 125 and have begun to dislike it for various reasons... At any rate, I've been thinking of using a 30 long as my new sump. I have a quote for $165 shipped in acrylic (with a black frame and center brace) so that I could freely drill as needed. There is no physical way for me to get the sump into my stand without cutting a hole in the side, or taking the display off. Neither of which I am willing to do. So I got to thinking as to how hard it would be to have them ship the tank as 5 sheets of acrylic, and two frames. This would enable me to assemble it under the stand. I would then assemble it in the frame, and using the pin method, bond the sides with Weld-On and then run silicon inside as a sealant.

How feasible does anyone think this is? Thanks!

Not very feasible in my opinion.

speaking from experience on this one...

if you wedge the largest sump that will fit under your DT (and I took my stand apart to fit a 40L under a 125gal), it makes things very difficult when it comes to maintenance and using your sump for equipment. Please make sure that you have thought through things like how accessible will this be once I get it in there? how will I fit that piece of rock that I want in that new fuge? and my favorite, that protein skimmer is not going to come out in one piece...

That all being said, assembly will probably be difficult because of limited mobility and ability to place clamps and the like, but possible with patience.

Thank you for the opinions! I decided against it thanks to you guys so I went with what I could do, a 29... Here's the thread if anyone is interested: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1734503
