i keep reading everyone say in order to keep sps and claims you need metal halides.ive got 5 acroporas,2montiporas and 2 claims in my 55gal with 4 t5ho and a icecap660.there growing really well and have been for a year and a half now.and the claims are on the bottom of the tank.so why do i need metal halides.

You don't. MH vs T5 has been debated to death, but the jist is that that can use either method with great results. Only thing I hear these days is the issues about shimmer. MH has it, T5 needs something else to supplement to get the shimmer lines.

Other than that, I think you have a great setup for your size tank, only thing you have to be careful of is this (You may upgrade tanks later on down the line).

Yeah, I haven't read that argument in some time. I believe everyone agrees that T5s are perfectly suitable for SPS.
