I have pbt, yellow, purple, and blonde naso along with 2 black percs, 1 psuedocromis, 1 radiant, 1 solarensis, 1 larmark angel, 3 pyramid butterflies, one orange spot rabbit, 1 falco, one lawnmower blennie and one 6" undidentified goby I see about twice a week.

I added a sohal (small 2-3") and he's the boss of the tank with the above already established. I added a coral beauty without any problems too.

I've been lucky. He's got attitude and is a bully. Can't imagine the other tangs if he was bigger and they were the new additions.

I have 2 sailfin and 2 purples in my 400 gal and they cohabitate well, with occasional flaring of fins or short chases. I also have a vlamingi, naso and un icorn that tolerate each other well.

How about purple Tangs???

I know I've seen large schools (8+) of purple tangs in at least 2 tanks.

convicts may work but the bottom line is that Fish do not truly shoal or school in tanks. The behavior is in threat of predators. Even at aquariums you RARELY find shoaling fish in HUGE tanks. I is a huge tank and sounds like you will be able to have a lot of beautiful fish especially tangs but I would not count on have a "Shoal/school" of them.
