Well I wrote earlier about a brain coral that had started bleaching and wondered what to do about it. Guess I can use it as a frisbee now that its gone. Amazing how fast it bleached out, no more than four days and it was mostly white. I also thought it was hurting neighboring corals particularly my cynarina only a few inches away.

My theory on the bleaching is that it was caused by a reduction in the amount i've been feeding the fish. As a result, a flame angel and a tang started picking at the coral and stressed it to the point of bleaching. Once it started, I had no idea how to stop it, although I did move it to a higher flow area.

Just another sad but important lesson for me and anyone reading this post.

I've never had any luck with an open brain once it was damaged, they just don't seem to recover from those kinds of issues very well.

i feel your pain, i came home to my hammer coral laying beside mine one day and ever since then it has been a downward spiral. all that is left is a strange looking skeleton with a small patch of flesh still hanging in there
