can u be more specific? I'm looking for something like the Kent Float Valve but wouldn't need to drill a hole in the container.

hmm. get a kent float valve and build your own bracket out of acrylic to mount it without drilling holes in the container. this could then be used on any container

Thanks for the link. I found out that my local Grainger carries this float valve. I'll get it from them later.

The one thing I do is replace the stainless bolt and wing nut with nylon. Just to be safe.
It' funny but I don't worry about the cotter pin.

I have just retired my fourth Kent float valve because the rubber seal leaks after just a short period of time being used in my sump. I have had too many mornings scrambling before leaving for work to do a water change and or Syphon off water after having my sump overflow all over my floor from a faulty Kent float valve. I have just recently switched to Using the Eshopps Float Valve from Drs Foster and Smith. Very well made and hasn't leaked once. With the adjustable mounting bracket there is No drilling involved. I will never buy another Kent float valve

I do have some nylon bolt and nut, I'll replace them the next time I use it. I just used it last night and it works beautifully. I was able to left it running overnight without worrying about overflow.

The reason I made mine that way is so that I can change how much water will be create based on how much water I want to change that day. I can move the float valve up or down along the side of my 44 gallon trash can.

I got away from Kent valves after several mornings cleaning up over flows also. I'll never go back.

I have the Kent valve on my RO/DI water change container but do not rely on it. I make sure I'm home when making the water and set the timer on my kitchen stove as a reminder to go down and check the progress from time to time. I currently run sumpless and use a pressurized (air pump on a timer) container as my ATO for the display. The feed line has a 'Wait' brand furnace humidifier float valve to shut off the flow at the proper level. An all plastic, very robust valve that has worked as advertised so far. I fashioned an acrylic bracket and use nylon bolts to clamp the assembly to the tank rim.
