Are niger trigers reef safe? How big a tank do they need?

I would say it depends on the fish. Some will eat all your snails and some will not. If you are not to worried about that then I say go for it

Niger triggers are reef safe in the sense that they don't normally bother corals.

Some are fine, some are terrors. They are extremely hard to predict.

dunno if i would chance a trigger in a reef setup, they also love to rearrange your rockwork

That is a potential problem, but nigers aren't all that prone to doing that (it's harder for them with the upturned mouth).

One of the more reef safe triggers.

Reef Safe, in the sense that they won't eat coral, but they will likely have a taste for fresh crustaceans. As for the size tank, they can get very large, so I would think a 6' tank would be best. If they are small, any tank larger then a 29 would probably suffice since they aren't normally fast active swimmers. They tend to just hang out and eat snails and hermits.
