Bleaching. I think.

so if the tips begin to whiten, I should move it down, correct?

It depends on how the tips look. White Tips also are growth.

just shorten your photo period by 2 hours and raise it back up slowly. problem solved

do you see polyp extension/coralites forming from the new white tips? If so that new growth.

If it was bleaching, your whole coral would lighten up, not just the tips

bleaching shows the coral tissue very "dried", like too much tight to the skeleton...

I use lumen bright reflectors and i'm at about 14" right now (large) 3x400w on 65" x 36" tank. I have a bonsai frag that the body is almost all white and only the polyps are bright green. Under the moolights at night you can see the purple hugh though...(it is right under the center of the LB right now but is almost all the way on the sand bed) Could it still be getting too much light at this depth? Or is it still just adjusting to the lighting. I've only had the frag in the spot for a month or two.

i don't have a pic at the moment. but literally the entire coral will fade and eventually turn white. it will still have flesh and polyps extending, just no color.
