How do I know when my candy cane is going to split?

If it has two mouths, does that mean it's about to split? Or is that normal?

I bought my first candy cane over the summer. I got it from a store that was going out of business and it was pretty much just a little blob of green on a skeleton for $5. Not a good deal, but it's only $5. ANyway, I've had it a few months and I'd say 3 weeks ago I thought I noticed a 2nd mouth. After 3 weeks it has doubled in size and has almost pinched itself in half at the center, making 2 heads. Very neat to watch new growth day to day.

Yeah mine has about 6 heads on it. One has two mouths and seems to be getting bigger.

it grows bigger heads first then you will notice the middle starting to divide..i got 4 heads to about 15 heads now..
