I read somewhere that the bulkhead is only made to tighten to the inside? Why? Wouldn't it make more sense to make a bulkhead that would fit a screw on attachment for better fit? I might be missing something here, but I don't know what would be the best way to keep it from leaking? PVC cement, silicone, or what? I need some help, I have a bgi tank, and cannot afford any leaks with this thing.

Can you be more specific? I am a little confused by your question. Are you referring to slip or thread connections?

go to home depot and buy a 1" PVC pipe and it connect perfectly iside the bulkhead. all our bulkhead is a slip/slip.
